should i catch a houndor im on the 4th gym

I'd catch him (if you can that early in the game?) he's one of my favourite, a nice doggy <3

i think you should and is the gym Fantina? if so then yeah had a bit of trouble with her in diamond had to use fireblast a lot

Yes, they did. I had a hard time with Maylene, until I went training and evolved my Grotle to Torterra and he learned Earthquake, and beating her was a breeze.

EDIT: If you picked Chimchar it'll be easy to beast her Lucario with any fire type move, if Turtwig, evolve him to Torterra so he learns Earthquake, and if you picked Piplup (worst starter by far, IMO)... I guess youshould get Houndour and evolve him to Houndoom and use a Dark type move shuch as Bite. In the area you find him in, it only takes one level to level him up (I found mine at level 28 and he evolved after one level, although I accidentally stumbled upon a trainer and my Grotle evolved after that, so I didn't use Houndoom in the gym battle at all.
